This one star hotel has a very large mini fridge (about 30 inches tall) and a microwave. My current hotel, a Marriot, only has a microwave in the lobby and the mini fridge is half the size in my room. I thought the bed was comfortable, the heater worked well, the water in my room, 46, got hot enough ( some reviews I read said the water was tepid). This hotel has a washer & dryer that guests can use for $1.25 each. Staff was very nice, my train got in 4 hours late and I was worried I would miss my first night, I got help with the best way to get to the hotel and when I arrived she helped carry my bags up the stairs. I was also allowed to check out a little bit late, so I could eat my lunch and have less time between checking out here and checking into my new hotel. I cancelled my booking at the hostel deciding that a shared room and bathroom were not for me after a stay in a hostel in another city. I think this hotel is a much better value than a shared room. If you are looking for a budget hotel this place is worth considering.

The price, location, and value cannot be beat! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Their free parking in downtown Portland for guests is almost unheard of; usually it costs extra for valet or you have to park nearby in a sketchy parking lot. Plus, it is monitored 24/7 so we were confident our vehicle was secure. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was no frills but had everything we needed for a couple nights. The location is everything; you're within walking distance of so many great Portland attractions. The area was quiet at night and felt very safe. The Wi-Fi worked great, and we appreciated having a TV with cable, as well as a fridge, and microwave. If you want the best budget hotel in Portland, this is an excellent spot!

We really enjoyed our stay. It's in a great location to explore downtown Portland. The staff were outstanding - so helpful, very happy to give us tips about public transport, good places to visit and did whatever they could to make our stay comfortable. We had a car to park and they went to lengths to help us do that. The room was very comfortable and clean. It is an old style motel and had a few signs of age, but it had everything that we needed. I was travelling with my son and his partner and we were all treated wtih great respect. Thanks for a great stay.

5* location, within walking distance to pretty much anywhere downtown. there's parking available, which was the main reason i booked it, but it's TIGHT and limited. it's on first come first serve basis. i was driving a toyota corolla, and it fit just fine, but could imagine being more complicated to park larger/wider cars. the room is old but big and functional. it gets loud in the mornings because it's right at the intersection of tram lines, which means it's well connected. lots of nice and reasonably priced food spots nearby because of the uni campus.

The location is everything here! The family running it are great - especially little ones. :) The hotel itself is older and could use some updating - shower was not hot enough. The bathroom needs new fixtures. Don't get me wrong - it works, but could def be improved as an investment in the business. When I'm traveling, I just want a clean, quiet room and a HOT shower, no frills needed. They kindly let us store our backpacks when we checked out as we were on Amtrak and did not leave until 7 pm. Thank you! Also, very convenient pizza/bar next door.
